The Duramax Brand

Our Story
The Vision Behind Duramax Welding
Duramax Welding began with a bold vision: to transform how welding supplies are delivered. Inspired by the mobile distribution model used by companies like Snap-on, our mission was to bring the welding supply store directly to the jobsite and/or plant—eliminating delays, removing friction, and meeting welders exactly where they are. That vision came from Brent Saul, our Vice President of Sales. With years of experience at Weld Wire Company, he recognized a major shift in the industry. As Weld Wire moved away from the traditional distributor model and began selling directly to larger end-users, it became clear that relying solely on an inside sales team wouldn’t be enough to scale.
Launching the Brand
To bring this idea to life, Brent partnered with Brad Kramer, a seasoned road sales veteran from the family-run Rem-ark Alloys. Together, they launched Duramax Welding in 2016–2017, laying the foundation for a new kind of welding supply experience.
From the start, the team was built around action. Early pioneer Wendy Bender transitioned from Weld Wire’s inside sales team to become one of our first Duramax Mobile drivers. With her fully stocked Sprinter van—wrapped in the Duramax brand and outfitted with custom shelving—she hit the road and began bringing the store directly to the customer.
Hitting the Road
The concept quickly gained momentum. What started as a single mobile unit turned into a growing fleet, expanding routes into Pittsburgh, Ohio, Miami, New Jersey, and more. Along with new regions came a broader product offering: abrasives, welding leads, tips, nozzles, and other consumables tailored to the welder.
Gearing Inventory for the Industry
In 2018, Duramax collaborated with a trusted mill to develop its E7018-H4R welding rod—a key breakthrough that gave us credibility and traction in the field. By 2019, end-users became the majority of our customer base across both Duramax and Weld Wire, marking a pivotal milestone in our history.
Scaling
Growth didn’t stop there. In 2022, we expanded our abrasives line and launched our own branded materials. By 2023, we converted our entire warehouse into a fully wireless system to support higher demand and streamline operations. Since then, we’ve consistently maintained a team of five to seven mobile sales professionals, each committed to delivering the Duramax promise nationwide.
What’s Next
Today, in 2026, Duramax Welding isn’t just a mobile distributor—it’s a movement. Built on hustle, field experience, and a deep understanding of what welders and fabricators truly need, we’ve become a trusted partner in reliability, speed, and service.
And we’re just getting started.
